A number of resources are available for anyone interested in learning more about Fannie Lou Hamer. Here are a few:
"This Little Light of Mine" is a comprehensive biography about Mrs. Hamer. Author Kay Mills (who passed away in 2011) did a wonderful job researching and writing about Mrs. Hamer's life and work. The book should be available at most local libraries.
Mrs. Hamer is featured in Episode 5 of the acclaimed PBS documentary “Eyes on the Prize.” The complete episode, as well as others, have been posted on YouTube. The link to Episode 5 is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zr6QDGpihaE. Mrs. Hamer can be seen about 45 minutes into the segment.
There's a brief summary on the History Matters site of Mrs. Hamer's voting rights activities, as well as transcribed audio of Mrs. Hamer describing the first time she tried to register. Here's the link: http://www.historymatters.gmu.edu/d/6918
