Before each performance, a discussion about the history and current state of voting rights will take place. "Scenes and Songs from Fannie Lou" is honored to have several distinguished guests participate. Each has been involved, along with their respective organizations, with ensuring that each and every citizen is able to comfortably exercise his/her Constitutional right to vote. We'll learn a little about their organization's reasons for committing resources to voting rights, some of the voting rights challenges they've faced over the years, what they consider their most effective triumphs, and what they believe are some of the most important current voting rights issues.
Each discussion will take place pior to the performance, and will last about 40 minutes. There will be an opportunity for questions from the audience about the last 10 minutes or so. The performance of "Scenes and Songs from Fannie Lou" will immediately follow the discussion. There will be an opportunity for additional questions and comments from the audience at the end of the performance. The entire event lasts about two hours.
